Hello Parents!
Today the students started off
their morning with Gym. Following that, we had our lesson #28 spelling test,
and then moved onto UOI. The students picked option 1 or 2, and then began
working on their research. Many of them have decided on a man or woman that
they would like to do their report on, and a few students must continue
researching to pick one by MONDAY.
After lunch, we worked on
designing our white t-shirt for Arts Night. The students used the fabric
markers I purchased, (just a heads up- good quality fabric markers are quite
pricey, if you ever need to buy them!) and we practiced singing our Arts Night
songs. Students are encouraged to practice singing at home, as many of them
need to work on confidence and voice projection!
After second break, the students
had French, and then they filled out their agendas when they got back to class.
We talked about their Tree Top Trekking trip tomorrow, and I reminded students
that they should be at school by 8:30am, as the bus will be leaving at 9am! I
also mentioned that I will be away tomorrow, as I have a doctor’s appointment.
With this being said, I informed them that for Monday, they will just need
their devices and research notes for their UOI summative. They can also begin
studying the lesson #29 spelling words, because their test will be on Thursday,
June 8th.
After our discussion, the
students got ready to go home.
Just a few
important notes before I go:
1. TOMORROW is the Tree Top Trekking field
trip!! Please make sure your child is here by 8:30am, and that they are dressed in their GYM UNIFORM. Also, please make sure you send the following items
with your child tomorrow in a backpack: a packed lunch, extra water, a hat,
sunscreen, and a sweater/ jacket (depending on the weather). Since I will not
be attending this trip, you can direct your questions to Mrs. Haag.
2. If I purchased a white t-shirt for your
child, please send $6 to school with them on MONDAY.
3. UOI: Look over the summative outline
and rubric. Bring your device on MONDAY,
so you can begin working on it! Remember, since this is a summative, ALL work
must be done in class, so I can observe and mark your process and understanding
of the topic.
4. Math: Parents are to sign and return
the Unit 11 math test.
5. Novel Study: Parents are to sign and
return the summative rubric.
6. Spelling: Lesson #29 test will be on
Thursday, June 8th. Words are up on the blog!
7. Due
to the amount of lost items, the school is promoting iron-on name labels! They cost $5.00
for 15 labels- I can provide the order form, if you are interested!
8. The Grade 5 class will be
contributing to the bake sale, which
has been pushed back to Arts Night! This means any NUT FREE baked goods brought
in for the bake sale, will be sold during our Arts Night exhibition. Also, if
any parents would like to volunteer to help out, that would be greatly
appreciated!
9. Arts Night will be on Wednesday, June 7th! We will
be having a daytime rehearsal at 1pm (parents can attend), and our final performance
starting at 7:00pm (all students are expected to participate in the evening
performance). Please make sure your child is here by 6:30pm, to ensure they are
not late.
10. The PYP Grade 3-6 Promotion
Ceremony will be on Wednesday, June 14th
at 9am. Parents are welcome to attend!
11. The last day of school will
be on Friday, June 16th!
Report cards will be sent home this day. Only 11 days of school left!
That pretty much sums it up for today. I hope everyone has a
wonderful night, and an enjoyable weekend!
