Hello Parents!
Today the students started off
their morning with UOI! They spent most of the morning working on their coding
summative, and we got called down to the auditorium for our Arts Night
rehearsal. After lunch, I introduced our math lesson- Unit 3, Lesson #1 (Naming
and Sorting Polygons by Sides). Although we will not be having a unit test for
this unit, I thought it would still be useful for the students to know this
information, as the previous teacher skipped it earlier in the year.
After Math, the students had Gym,
and then they worked on their t-shirts for Arts Night. We also rehearsed our
performance in the auditorium again, and then they headed outside for second
recess. After that, the students had French, and then we were called down to
the auditorium one more time. They filled out their agendas when they got back
to class, and then they continued working on their t-shirts until it was time
to get ready to go home.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students are to bring black pants, (could be
black jeans,) for our Arts Night dress rehearsal tomorrow. Also, I STRONGLY
encourage each and every student to practice singing in front of their family
members, as many of our classmates need the practice! We need to try to be
enthusiastic and full of energy while performing, otherwise the audience will
fall asleep! Practice, practice, practice!!
Just a few
important notes before I go:
1. If I purchased a white t-shirt for your
child, please send $6 to school with them tomorrow.
2. UOI: continue working on your coding
summative, and make sure you come to school with all of your needed items, (ex.
Laptop, devices, printed off information, title pages, etc.). This summative is
due on FRIDAY, JUNE 9TH, and all students will be presenting that
day!
3. Math: Unit 3, Lesson #1- workbook,
P#36-37.
4. Spelling: Lesson #29 test will be on
Thursday, June 8th. Words are up on the blog!
5. Due
to the amount of lost items, the school is promoting iron-on name labels! They cost $5.00
for 15 labels- I can provide the order form, if you are interested!
6. The Grade 5 class will be
contributing to the bake sale, which
has been scheduled for Arts Night! This means any NUT FREE baked goods brought
in for the bake sale, will be sold during our Arts Night exhibition. Please try
to bring these items in the morning, so we can set them up right after school. Also,
if any parents would like to volunteer to help out, that would be greatly
appreciated!
7. Arts Night will be THIS Wednesday, June 7th! We will be having a daytime
rehearsal at 1pm (parents can attend), and our final performance starting at
7:00pm (all students are expected to participate in the evening performance).
Please make sure your child is here by 6:30pm, to ensure they are not late.
8. The SJA Parent Guild has
organized an Ice Cream Day for the last day of school! I have sent the
permission forms home, and they will be due, along with the money, on Friday,
June 9th.
9. The PYP Grade 3-6 Promotion
Ceremony will be on Wednesday, June 14th
at 9am. Parents are welcome to attend!
10. The last day of school will
be on Friday, June 16th!
Report cards will be sent home this day. Only 9 days of school left!
That’s pretty much it for today. I hope everyone has a
wonderful night!
