Hello
Parents!
Today we
worked on our reading assessments, while also completing our spelling work, as
well as persuasive writing pieces. Later in the day we took up our math
workbook homework, and had a class discussion about the “creative” song I made
up to help teach the students how the find the “mean” of a set of numbers. Based
on the feedback, apparently my songs are just as bad as my jokes! Haha. Fortunately,
the oh-so catchy song actually worked, as I was able to see positive results in
their homework! For homework, the students were assigned two worksheets, so they
can practice before we move on to another lesson tomorrow. After math was
recess, and then the students had French. At the end of the day we were able to
practice our Christmas Concert song; however, it wasn’t as productive as I
would have liked, since many students needed reminders about acting
appropriately, rather than not listening and being silly. Hopefully tomorrow
will be more successful in our attempts!
Just a few
important notes before I go:
1.
Spelling workbook P#57-60 (In both the red and blue book) for homework if it wasn’t
completed in class.
2.
Mean and
Mode math worksheets are for homework. Students are allowed to use a calculator,
and are reminded to write “No Mode” if there isn’t a Mode in a set of numbers.
3.
Read chapter
16 in Percy Jackson
4.
January lunch forms are due on Friday, December 16th. Please remember to send your
form of payment along with the completed form.
5.
If you ordered Gift Cards, they were sent home today in your child's agenda.
Please make sure to check their agendas to ensure the receipt and gift cards
are all there.
6.
Practice singing, “Santa Claus is coming to
town!”
7. The cookie dough pick up is set for
Thursday, December 8th from 3:45-8pm in the cafeteria.
8.
Parent-Teacher interview times will be emailed
out by Wednesday. I believe they are just making some last minute changes to
ensure everyone gets the time slot they requested. Just a reminder that since
the interview meetings are only 10 minutes long, it is important that you arrive on time!
9.
The grade 3 classes are organizing a food and toy drive, and are asking for
non-perishable food items, as well as new toys/ books. We will be collecting
them in each classroom until December 21st. This time of year can be difficult
for many families, so let’s try to help out those who need it!
10.
Just a reminder for “Secret Santa,” the price limit is $10, and the students should
refer to the form of their “Secret Santa” person, in order to make their
shopping easier. I ask that students do not bring in their gifts until DECEMBER
21st or 22nd, as I don’t want it to get stolen or
damaged. I have suggested that students wrap the present with a tag that says,
“To: _____, From: Your Secret Santa,” and bring it in in a plastic bag (so
students don’t see each other walking in with a specific gift, which will ruin
the suspense).
11.
The St. Jude's Academy Christmas concert is
quickly approaching! The students are
excited to share the performances that they have been busily preparing. The
Christmas concert is taking place on December 21st. There will be two performances on this
date. The first performance takes place
at noon, and the second performance takes place at 7pm. Families are welcome to attend either (or
both!) performance times.
12.
During the evening performance (at the Christmas
concert), the class Christmas baskets
organized by the Parent Guild will be available by auction. There will also be refreshments available by
purchase. Please come prepared to
participate in these exciting events!
Like usual,
if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send me an email! I
hope you all have a good night!
