Hello parents!
Just a quick
post to inform you about our day, and some important upcoming information.
Although the
grade 5’s went on a curling trip today, we were able to squeeze in a few mini
lessons. We discussed the expectations of the new classroom, and the students
were very excited to hear about all of the new standards. We briefly talked
about the upcoming Science Fair, and where they should be with their project.
Since the Science Fair is set for Thursday, November 24th, this gives us less
than two weeks to get all our research done, conduct our experiments (if they
haven’t done so already), and create our display boards (which I will be giving
out at the end of the week).
Later today we were also able to play a math game
when they came back to school (refer to my previous post/ picture). It was a
quick day, but I think we got most of the important topics covered through
class discussions.
There wasn’t
much homework assigned today, but this will definitely change soon, as the next
few weeks will be jam packed with lots of curriculum content and work relating
to it. It will be lots of fun!
Just a few important notes and reminders:
SJA is excited to announce the addition of healthier options
to our lunch menu! Starting on the December order sheet you will be able to

The SJA Parent Guild has partnered with classes and teachers
to help raise funds for technology items. Each class has chosen a specific
theme and will create a gift basket to be auctioned off at the Christmas
Concert on Wednesday, December 21. Our grade 5 class has decided on a “Game
Night” theme, and we are encouraging
each student to donate $10 or buy a related item(s) valued at $10. Please
return the ‘Classroom Basket Auction’ form with item or money donation by Thursday,
November 17th (the date has been pushed back for our class, due to
the change of teachers). We thank in you advance for your donation and
participation.
School pictures were sent home last week. All orders are due
by Thursday, November 17th.
The MYP students are putting together a used winter clothing
drive for Syrian Refugee families living in Mississauga. We are asking for
gently used winter gear such as hats, mitts, snow pants, boots, coats, scarves,
etc. The clothing drive will run from October 27th until November 18th. Any and all
donations are much appreciated!
Scholastic orders are due by Friday, November 25th.
December lunch orders are due Friday, November 25th.
Hope everyone has a good night!
Ms.
Ramnarine
